A New Look for a New Year

Posted in Site Updates/News on January 30, 2008 by Rylie

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve written something in here! I almost forgot how to use this thing, until I remembered how easy it was. I’m not going to expand this particular post, because the news is short and sweet. Beneath the Stitching and Explosive have both gotten entirely new layouts for 2008.

I still have to write up a master fic list (the library will soon be all fics listed in alphabetical order, but there will still be links to author’s pages)—unless we suddenly get a large amount of fic, which isn’t so likely. I will need contact information from willing authors and artists, in case the readers/viewers wish to contact them. Send your preferred methods (or none) to darknightdestiny@gmail.com.

As always, send your icons, fanfiction and fanart to darknightdestiny@gmail.com. I have a few private “wanted” lists, but you’ll know those when you get them, and then you can say “sure!” or shove them in my face! Oh, this is so exciting. =)

Site/Shrine Updates for October

Posted in Site Updates/News on November 12, 2007 by Rylie

You know it’s bad when people are leaving you messages in your guestbook saying, “I love the new additions/changes to the site!” when you haven’t even put your update notices up yet. Gyargh… I’m slipping muchly. Life has been hectic lately and not always agreeable, but at least I’ve gotten some things sorted out. My living space is pretty much decluttered and pretty (during those times when the space remains open), and I hope to do better. It gets annoying what with toys and dishes and whatnot everywhere but where they belong, despite my constant nagging reminding.

In other news, I won the Halloween writing contest on the Fantasy World Network. This means Sarah has been giving me interviews, which has been a BLAST. Those will be up later, both on the FWXD page and on mine. And now…

Site/Shrine Updates for September

Posted in Site Updates/News on September 9, 2007 by Rylie

I had plans for more updates before I made this post, but life has gotten rather hectic as of late. I just have a huge mental list of things I have to deal with—and some I cannot deal with, which only makes me fret and feel helpless. Either way, I should hopefully have another wave of things coming soon, and once I am finished with the lists I’ve been handed… I will feel better about sending out my requests. Best to take it one step at a time.

Settling In… Sort Of.

Posted in Dear Journal: Real Life on August 23, 2007 by Rylie

It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed up through an entire night without any sleep—usually I just end up crawling into bed exhausted between three and five in the morning, like it’s routine—but I did it last night, and managed it all without getting anything done.

Haha.

There are still boxes, and I still have to move some things around to make them fit better/look nicer, but at least everything is here. I have plants, too… although that one looks kind of wilted.

Then came the doom. »

Site/Shrine Updates for August

Posted in Site Updates/News on August 19, 2007 by Rylie

These past few days since my migration from Livejournal have been spent getting everything on my domain pages in order—from getting rid of old and useless files, to creating new ones, archiving and formatting. If I’m going to migrate, I’m going to do it fully, and I’m going to do it correctly.

Andrew Keen: Killing Free Culture

Posted in Dark's Editorials on August 18, 2007 by Rylie

This is something in the vein of what Cendri said earlier today, only I’m a bit more fired up about it, because it is specific and now it is widespread. You see, not a few hours after I’d suggested some very good resources to her, I saw something on the television that really infuriated me.

I don’t watch much television. It’s on much of the time in my house, but usually behind me while Joe is watching it, and I’m here, typing away. But when I’m winding down from the day, and Johnny is tuckering himself out on the floor with his toys, I can stand to turn it on for a bit. It’s usually food or travel, or science, or satire. Yes, I get my news from Comedy Central. Don’t look down on me, asshole.

Wiping the Slate Clean

Posted in Dear Journal: Real Life on August 14, 2007 by Rylie

Amidst all of this Internet chaos and moving things around, I’ve also been undergoing some other serious changes. For one, we’ve just moved from a house into an apartment. The new place is very spacious and a friggin’ steal for what we’re paying, but I still have the urge to throw away a lot of things. I’m a minimalist, though you wouldn’t know it from looking at the clutter on my computer desk. I like things to be simple, neat and presentable. I don’t know from whence I picked that one up, given that my dad’s a bit of a packrat and my mom’s probably got mail from a year ago sitting around the house. But while I’m trying to figure out the nicest-looking layout for my furniture and how to best accommodate guests, I’m also throwing out a lot of things from my wardrobe. I’ve discovered I have too many books to fit on the only bookshelf I wanted to save, but I refuse to get rid of books, because I do hang onto the written word like a fiend, even my old high-school literature notes. What? They’ll come in handy someday, just wait and see.

Things are looking up. »

Darknightdestiny.com to Get Facelift

Posted in Site Updates/News on August 13, 2007 by Rylie

Darknightdestiny.com is getting a facelift. Much like the Vin-Tifa shrine (Beneath the Stitching), I’m going to throw the links off to the left along with a media player, so that the screen doesn’t look so squished. I will probably go through several phases of adding and deleting pages as I go along, because I can’t decide right now what will stay and what will go. Will I mix my fan-art and my original art? I don’t know right now, though I can say that there’s a very small amount that I’m satisfied with, and for now I might as well.

About the new plans. »
